This page covers the Glea app for macOS, the Glea Clipper browser extensions for Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, and this website. Glea is made by Mathieu Jouhet (CSS labs).

The Glea app

What stays on your Mac

Your journal, notes and captured images are plain files in ~/Documents/Glea, or the folder you pick. Your browsing history, open tabs, reading time for the daily summary (kept 30 days), settings and the browser profile (cookies, site data, extensions) are stored in your user Library. None of it is sent to us, and we have no copy. Incognito windows keep nothing once they close.

What reaches the network

Glea is a web browser: pages you visit, and the services they use, receive what any browser sends them. Beyond that, Glea makes only these requests:

What we don’t do

There are no analytics, crash reporters, telemetry or advertising identifiers in Glea, and no account to sign in to.

Glea Clipper (browser extensions)

Glea Clipper brings Glea’s point and shoot, and collecting selections, articles, images and links, to other browsers.

Its permissions are for these things only: access to pages, so point and shoot can work in them; reading a page’s selection or main text when you collect it; the context menu; storage for your preferences; and the clipboard for long captures. Glea Clipper’s use of data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements: data is used only to provide the capture feature, never sold, never used for advertising, and never transferred to third parties.

Your choices

Everything Glea keeps is in folders on your Mac that you can read, move or delete. Removing Glea Clipper from your browser removes its preferences. To have your email address deleted, or for any question about this policy, open an issue on GitHub.
